Default Columbia River Flow level

Just a warning: The Corp of Engineers started their spring spill this week to help the outmigration of smolts. The Columbia is way up. Be prepared for deeper, faster water than you may be used to. The graph shows it up more than a foot in the last couple days and projected to go higher!

Thanks for sharing, Pete. I was wondering if you could give us the link that shows the forcasted steam flow of the Columbia. The one that's on this thread. Thanks, Dale

You can get the link by right clicking on the image and then selecting "properties". On this one, the URL is http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/Portland/pub...fs/SHNO3RP.gif

Hey, if anybody can get some "forcast" info, please e-mail me or post the information. I have been trying for years to get this info, but everybody I talk to tells me that the power production information is "top secret", has something to do the competing power companies. With 4 years of data I have been able to extrapolate some information and have been able to project some patterns, but it's not exact and take alot of work watching the water as it flows down from the north. Now with spills for the first time in a few years, the equation gets more complicated.

Heres the updated graph from Bonneville this morning. Bonneville Graph and river level The river was at aprox 12' up there on 4/7 and now it is over 20' That is a huge diference, everyone be careful out there will change the amount of debris and also the amount of anchor rope you will need also.

If you look at the graph above, it's doing something I never anticipated, but which is darned interesting! When I posted it as a link, it showed the actual data, followed by the projection. Now it's showing an overlay since the time of the post. The actual is much higher than the expected. Too bad power production is an issue of national defense and corporate secret, otherwise we'd be able to learn the actual planned levels with greater accuracy.
