Fin Clipping Trask Talking thread!!!
Hey! I decided that I am going to start a fin-clipping-trash-talking thread here.
I can clip better than you!
Come on, let's rock!
F4 doesn't have anything on us!!!
It's a war now! Fin clip or fish, what's it gonna be?

being of the un-initiated to fin clipping styles and equipment...what does one use? scissors, large nail clippers, meat cleaver, rasp?
and is there a spot and stalk technique required?

Regarding fin clipping - where are they meeting and what time? What do you bring? And, how long do they expect to take?

Re: Fin Clipping Trask Talking thread!!!
WoooooooHooooooooo!
I'm not all alone any more!
Thanks for the info Ex-mil. Yes I am a Baltimoron. I grew-up in (of all places) Glen Burnie before joinin' the Navy. But I lived for sometime in Baltimore where the new stadium was built. It wasn't a good neighborhood.
I wrote a thread last Fall about Eastcoast Hunters to see if there was anyone out here from my neck of the marsh. There were some from New York, Mass, and others but nobody from B'more.
I'm sure your wife won't know who I am. I was Class of '76 and didn't even graduate on stage. So I'm probably older then your wife.

Hey? Why don't you Email me and we can hash all this out there?
RRTITUSjr@netscape.net
I'll be waitin' to hear from you.

Re: Fin Clipping Trask Talking thread!!!
Fishful, I'm sorry you don't have the stomach to clip a fin. It takes a responsible, activist type to do these things.
Oh! OUUUUUUUUUUUWWWWWWW!
Besides, someone has to do the work so that the hatcheries stay open...
I'll volunteer, being the lady that I am, to work while you all play.
Have a good time!
Hey, and next fall, if the rivers around here still have hatchery fish?... I'll even let you come hook one.... once!
I'm wearing my favorite lipstick and just a touch of my favorite perfume so they'll know me.
Yeah, right... They'll remember that I'm the girl that scared the heck out of 'um, and cut off their body parts!!!
They'll avoid me like poison!
Ish!
Jen
OK, so this isn't much of a trash competition!!! I'm just trying to rally the troops! (What meager few there are left, after Giz leads them all down North to do what????
FISH?
Party?
Win Prizes?
Eat?
Hey, Jerry, can I have the day off?

Re: Fin Clipping Trask Talking thread!!!
Well for one thing, I will catch more Chinooks in total numbers than any of those crackers will during F4. I didnt see anywhere where it said size mattered!
Good thing Team SMS isnt going to be at the hatchery cuz there aint no foot stools to stand on.
Sorry Crash and Dent, there will be no BBQ set up for ya.
Oh, was this supposed to be trash talk among those that are going to the hatchery?
Out of those ifishers that are going, who's done this before? I've done it the last 4 or 5 years.
-->>Bring water proof boots, and your rain pants. If your fin clipping, you WILL get wet if not properly dressed.
-->>Surgical gloves are availible to keep your hands dry and warm but are in limited supply. I've always toughed it out with cold wet hands.
-->>Plastic aprons are usually there but there but are in limited supply as well.
-->>We usually finish around 2:30. There is lots of doughnuts and coffee in the morning and lots of hotdogs, chicken, pizza, and pop for lunch.
-->>There are several jobs that require only a few people (2-3). There are fish counters, fish runners, fish sleepers, and the dreaded fish hearder's. The hearders need chest waders and they freeze their butt off.
-->>You can join the Tillamook Angler's right then and there if your not a member. And there is a raffle so bring some money!
-->>I believe we start around 0900, I'll be there around 0800.
Any questions? If your not in F4 then be at the Whisky Creek Hatchery.

Hey Jennie, I bet I can clip more fins than you this coming weekend. In fact, I'm willing to bet you my new plug I made today! I might even throw in a coffee-ring cake, that you love so much!
Psssssss....Don't tell David Johnson about this lure, he might just want one.

I'm telling David, AND I'm telling him you will be at the clipping, so you'd better start producing those plugs!!!
BRING ON the coffee cakes, honey, cuz you are gonna be the hearder this weekend!!!
I can fish count, fish run, and fish sleep with the top notchers, and I WILL NOT be the dreaded fish hearders!!!!
(By the way, Waterdog, (SH!) I've never done this before, so please, send me lessons via E mail.
I need to brush up on my clippin, dude!!

You're all a bunch of wanna be's! There's no way any of you are clipping more than the ClipMaster! I'll even spot you a 10% margin and still whip your totals! You'll all be comatose on coffee cakes and crullers while I'm buzzing on Sumatra Mandheeling Estate!
AND .... I don't do partials! Every clip clean and complete!

Geesh! Mand... what?
I'm bringing the espresso maker with an IV.
The kids heard on Tech TV about a fin clipping machine.
I'm going to order one of those, sit back and eat coffee rings and crullers and watch you guys sweat it out.

Hey Jennie, you better break out your baking pans,
because if I win....I want a cake. Plus I want you to tell everyone on the BB, that I fin-clip better than you. Your going to be in the kitchen next week baking that cake. Remember, this old gal can do anything she sets her mind to.

Re: Fin Clipping Trask Talking thread!!!
The clipping is easy. You'll get a set of sissors and small bucket. sleepy fish are put in the bucket by the runners and you jst clip the adipose. Place the clipped fish in the pipe and thats it!
We used to clip one of the ventral fins (I think)so if caught you could tell which hatchery it was from and that was a bit more confusing to some people. But since the regs read adipose only the hatchery had to change.
So Pete thinks he's a clipmaster huh? Well see about that. If the runners are good, 10,000 for the day is easy. Coffee, bismarks, maple bars, apple fritters, crullers and all!!
Now how the heck do I remember how many "TEN"'s I yell out?

Catch and Cracker; Exactly what part of being a girl is a problem? Women have been the best, fastest and most complete clippers for a LONGGGGG time. Since these club-fingered men have been sticking their noses into this fin-clipping science, the quality has gone WAY down. Ladies, get up late, have a cuppa, and then whoop some arse. It won't be hard.

Re: Fin Clipping Trask Talking thread!!!
I have been working at the hatchery all day, and just turned this darn thing on. What a surprise to find this new page. Jen it is great. Good humor. Now if we can put as much effort into clipping as we do on this thing, shucks we'll be done by l0am. And will be able to skip the lunch. I guess we'll just feed the chickens the 400 pieces of chicken from Fred Meyer, the 30 Very large pizzas from Pizza Hut, The Pepsi from Tillamook Soda Works, and the 4 cases or hot dogs, from Texaco Deli, and buns from Franz. We will eat the 20 doz. donuts from safeway before we start clipping. Jen thanks for the reminder I forgot to order the rubber gloves from Tillamook Hospital. BBy the way the reason we stopped doing the left ventral, was becouse it caused them to swim in circles. See you all sat. Jerry

Yeah, like people wouldn’t recognize me anyway. There’s even a picture (albeit a reflection) of me on YOUR basin council’s web page. It is becoming nearly impossible to remain anonymous. You had better be nice or I will raid some employee files and post your ugly mug on this BB.

Re: Fin Clipping Trask Talking thread!!!
What a bunch of lame trash talkers
Jerry Dove, to trash talk you actually need to insult somebody, or at a minimum, insult their momma Whos wearing combat boots?
Take Waterdog for example, he has been prepping his boat and gear for a week for the fin clipping event. He got a new rubber kitchen apron, been soaking his hands in palmolive for 2 hours a day so his hands stay soft for the fish just like Marges. I talked to Waterdogs wife and she told me his small feet allow him to stand closer to the sink when he does the dishes. This will be an advantage also when he clips fins. He purchased 4 hatchery tags and told me he was gonna fill all 4 of them on Saturday. He isnt the shiniest pebble in the stream.
I think it would be funny to watch Crash and Dent throw his tantrum when the event was over and he still hadnt caught a fish to clip. Maybe if Crash and Dent and his team member Spooled showed up in dresses the fish wouldnt recognize them. Nah.... it would still be Crow for supper.
Anybody got a good recipe for BBQ'ed fins?

Rotten eggs, the rumor is that before you caught that springer last week , you were banned from this event. The powers that be figured that they needed someone who could at least catch a baby springer with their bare hands. The way your luck had been going, no one was sure you could even do that.  One fish does not make one a fisherman, the jury is still out. Hey Jennie, Gizmo decided that everyone should go to the fin clipping, so he decide to redirect the F-4 traffic to the Fin clipping event. He
even went in disguise to direct the traffic, thanks,Giz.

Re: Fin Clipping Trask Talking thread!!!
so you want me to get this thread going too. Jen, before its gets to be fact, the f4 will be on Saturday. I talked to Jerry and he is moving the clipping to your back yard on Sunday. He said these are hardy fish and do not need to be in water.
Jen, you need to really brush up on your trask talking...those fish will be full grown adults before you and your band of clippers get done.
Oh by the way, how can you molest a wild fish...you are taking wild unclipped fish and taking their fins off making them unwild clipped fish...is this against the genitics laws...
