Any Ideas????
While drifting a Spin n Glo I frequently get a good tangle with my leader, Weight, and Mainline. My normal drift set up with Spin n Glo is: Hook & 24" leader with bait loop, 5 mm bead, Spin n Glo, Barrel swivel, and Sliding weight with a 5mm bead for bumper/knot protector. I use a slinky or pencil lead for weight. It get's annoying since I don't know if my rig is working or tangled under water. This seems to happen only when I use a Spin n Glo. Am I doing somthing wrong?

Re: Any Ideas????
i had big problems with my spin-n-glows twisting up my leaders and tangling until i started using several beads between the spin and the hook. same thing with my spinners; one or two beads behind the blade and my line would be twisted and kinking in a dozen casts or less. now i use at least three beads behind the blade and they spin really nicely and don't twist up my line. i use the really tiny black beads, smaller than a BB. they don't put too much distance between the s-n-g and provide plenty of bearing surface.

Re: Any Ideas????
I use a bead above my Spin n Glo or what ever when I'm feeling creative. Thanks for the tip, I will try more beads under the Spinny thingy.

Re: Any Ideas????
Corkie...I used sliders last winter but they sure seemd to hang up a lot, and when they did it ended up breaking the mainline vs just breaking off the weight. I didn't think I was using too much weight since I was getting a nice rythmic bounce along the bottom....but....

Re: Any Ideas????
I always use the same colored corkie or even two below the s-n-g if water conditins warrant. I have had very good luck with this. Seems to work better than those little tiny beeds. I also use pencil lead on the tag line off the barrel swivel where I tie the main line on. Just pinch it enough to hold it on. If it snags up on the bottom, I can usually get my rig back without breaking my line. The pencil lead will slide off the line.

Re: Any Ideas????
Your right, they do hang up more, But it seems like if you have a slider you will detect bites better, since the fish is pulling on just your line, v.s. they other way they would have to pull on your weight and line. Not sure wich is better.

Re: Any Ideas????
CM,
When drift-fishing a SnG, you need to watch what kind of water you're fishing to avoid leader tangles. Water that is swirly and boily is water that's best avoided with a SnG. If the current doesn't pull your SnG/hook away from the lead right away, there's a good chance it's going to tangle your leader. Beads help with this problem, but if you cast way upstream or into swirly water, you're going to get a few tangles. Keeping your line tight between your rod and lead as soon as your offering hits the water will help, but it also means you won't get down as fast.
If this does happen, chuck that leader right away. Once tangled, they are more likely to tangle again and if you hook a fish on a kinked-up leader, you'll regret it.

Re: Any Ideas????
I think I see what I'm doing wrong now. I always give a little slack soon as it hits the water to help it sink faster. ooohhhhhh, I get it now.
Thanks

Re: Any Ideas????
Another thing to avoid when using Spin N' Glo's is a limp line for your leader. You will be better off with something like Maxima.
