Default Herring found,

Got fed up with not being able to find herring locally, so Saturday afternoon I packed the kids
up and headed for Tillamook. Stopped at the Guide shop, picked up some purples and then
went to Tillamook Sporting Goods and they had a large supply of greens and purples. Guide
Shop is selling purples for $5.50 a pack and Tillamook Sporting Goods is selling green label
for $6.00 a pack . I paid the high prices anyway but now I dont have to spend my
afternoons on the phone trying to track bait down. Tillamook Sporting Goods has a two pack
limit but if you tell them you drove from Portland for herring they will let you buy more.
I left with enough to keep me going till July.

How can the coastal bait shops have a good supply of herring and GI Joes have absolutely
nothing? Fishermans gets it in periodically but only like 5/6 cases at a time and then "poof"
its gone and you have to wait another week.

Talked to a guy in another boat while trolling yesterday. He had just netted a nice chinook
he was quite tickled because he caught that fish on a herring he found in a dumpster at
the launch  You do what you gotta do
