Default Perhaps Some Manners...

We have had a couple posts lately about manners and such. Since the fishing is going to get hot and heavy here in the next few weeks, let us at least state (remember)what we expect, from ourselves and others. My opinion is:
1) Fish in the accepted way in a known area.
2) First come, first served (except as #1, you can't anchor in the back-bouncing area, etc.).
3) You can ask some body to move, but don't be insulted if they refuse (except #1).
4) (This one will kill me) No one has a right the others don't have. Don't expect special treatment because you derive your paycheck from fishing. (See #5)
PS Most guides understand this and are the nicest people on the river, a very few don't catch a clue.
5) If you see a guide out fishing, don't crowd them and complain about "your" space.
6) A ramp is to launch and retrieve your boat. It is not for you to: load your gear, chat, wake up, wait for your crew/client, check out your motor, park your rig for just a little while, tune your engine, put the bra on your boat, throw away your garbage, clean your catch, etc. Move the heck out of the way and let the next person use the ramp.
7) Have just a little more patience for the newbie, offer assistance, and not trash-talk.
8+) Add your own

We all start our eventual salmon fishing expertise as a novice. Experience is a great teacher in most cases, however, not always. Not one of us owns a spot on the river even though some seem to think otherwise. I have seen the most experienced get lines cut in their own props. How can they blame anyone else? Well they do and those are the gorilla's that we all have to live with and tolerate or follow plan "B". Trouble is --- most often -- they don't know they exist or can't comprehend another option (plan "B"). For those with that problem and can't understand why their boats won't float --- keep in mind that new fisherman are hitting the rivers and lakes everyday and that new guy may be the one that stops the netters. Show some respect - give some room - and think about when or if you were in their boat some years ago. We want to be good neighors if you permit us.

STGrule, yeah, what you said. Plus a couple more, don't back your ******** truck into the river to use as a fishing platform, get your sorry A$$ out and walk a few feet if you're able. I found some GREAT spots to fish by WALKING    , a few tenths of amile or more  , from road acsess. Wow, what a concept.
And always remember, you are not the only one that wants to use that boat landing. It's for getting your boat in and out of the water, ONLY.

Let's not forget to think about what the guy above you will do if he hooks a fish...

In other words....... DON'T ANCHOR TOO CLOSE TO THE GUYS ABOVE YOU!!!!

The Columbia is a BIG river, and there's NO reason you need to have your rod hanging into someone else's boat!!

Yea, the opposite holds true as well. Last week at around three pm I had a guy drop anchor right above me. I'm AM a novice to this river anchoring stuff and I don't need any "help" from from the more exp. / inconsiderate boaters on the river. It's a big river...just give everyone some room.

There are just too many of us pursuing the springers on the river.

All of the above posts are very good reasons to catch Salmon in the Ocean, where they are on the feed and the doughball content is low.

One of the Salty dogs, Moby, is telling a tale of Kings near Seal rock. Maybe we need to ask for photos.
