Default shaft length for a willie DB ???

I am buying a yamaha 8hp four stroke tomarrow and will call willie to see what he suggests, but am wondering what some of you had to say on motor shaft length for a willie 16x54 drift boat? I found out from dealer that lengths go to 30 inch. I would sure hate to come up short....and can it be too long?? I'll probably end up bringing boat to dealer too....almost got her ready ******! SOON!!

I've got a Willie 16x56 .... Long shaft 8 HP Merc is just barely long enough. I use dolfins on it to keep it from cavitating as much. Anything shorter would be a problem.

Mark the 8HP Merc longshaft I had on it was fine. I want it back! I put the money in the bank and my wife and daughter spent it on me. Needless to say they are both on the doo doo list. Wish you many years of fish and pleasure.
