Odell Lake Report

I am looking for a recent Odell and Wickiup report. Has any body been doing any good?

I was at Odell today. The kokanee were up shallower and I talked to someone who caught some casting to jumpers until the wind came up. He said they were about 11". I saw quite a few schools, but no huge schools. Opening weekend I didn't see any. It's getting better. Hope this helps.

We got 9 kokanee today after a long time on the water at Wickiup. Only 1 bigger fish, the rest were average Oregon kokes. Got a bonus 14"-15" inch brown while trolling for kokanee. Was nice to see AuFish101 on the water. He had 23 in the cooler and looked as though he got number 24 as the wind was starting to pick up.

I left with the wind, 14 today; 4 & 1 matching Bonus last night, I also got to see aufish with jigs In his hands, but he was selling them

Going to fish Odell this Saturday and may leave Friday after work in time to fish some in evening depending... Eric I'll look for your boat. I'll be in a Woldridge with a black and red top. I was in the Koke class the last 2 years. See ya up there on the water.

The FS lists Princess Creek as still closed but Sunset Cove and Trapper Creek as open. Maybe someone who has been there in the last few days could shed some light on it.

Princess Creek is open. My sons and I stayed there 2 weekends ago and were the only ones in the campground. I called the crescent ranger district before heading up to confirm it was open.

This is what I found out on the Internet. There is rumors that they are putting in a new boat ramp also at Princess creek.
Sunset Cove Campground and Boat Launch will be closed until May 7th.
Princess Creek Campground will be open from April 23rd through May 9th, but will be closed from May 10th through May 30th.
Campground is open from 4/23/10 to 7/07/10 weather permitting. The campground is closing early this year due to a day use project that will be going on in the campground starting July 7. The campground will then be closed for the season unless the project is done before Labor Day.

I soke with the Crescent station a couple of weeks ago and they said it would be open from then until the 7th of July when it will close for the new ramp. I would call the ranger station and verify that they are done which they should be. They only had one and a half log trucks worth of logs to haul out and then they were going to be done.

The derby is sponsered by Odell Lake Resort on the east end of the lake.

Fished a few hr's Thursday evening. LOTS of fish rolling. Caught 6 in less than a hr. nothing big, all between 10-14 inches. All cast and retrieve red or red/white jigs tipped with worm/corn.

well we just got back and got the fish cleaned,we put in at princess creek at daylight and took out about 11.30 with 75 kokes,all caught on jigs,and the grade of fish seems to be a bit better than last year.
