Springer Line??
I would like to know what type of line for bait casting reels people like for springers. Braided? Mono? Pound test too, of course.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Springer Line??
30 lb power pro, snoope rod and zebco reel donated by Catch and Eat and Bait of Eggs. They didn't like my 201 with 15 lb Maxima on my Kenai Killer 9' rod. It was intimidating when I went with them. Said I had to use a good rig to catch good fish. They wanted me to be using the same equipment they do so I wouldn't have an advantage.

Re: Springer Line??
20 pound Maxima Chameleon for spring and fall chinook bank fishing. It's stiffer, more sensitive, less stretchy, and more durable on rocks than Ultragreen, which I use for the leader.

Re: Springer Line??
Tuf line, 50lb (the black and white, not the all white and, please, not the Tuf Plus green stuff). Small diameter, zero stretch for great sensitivity. Fish hook themselves.

Re: Springer Line??
Thanks for the replies. I was curious about the comment about tuf line. Something about "not the white and please not the green plus" ??? What's up with the green and white?

Re: Springer Line??
I also use 50# power pro with 40# maxima leader. Power pro is great for anchoring with kwikies,
pulling plugs and trolling.

Re: Springer Line??
50# Berkley Whiplash - green for main line. I use 30# green mono (Ande, Maxima, etc.) for leader material.

Re: Springer Line??
I'm with Luguando... i've been using berkley whiplash (50 #) for over a year now... not a problem, not a break..... strong, fray resistant, thin, no stretch (careful on the big hook sets) doesn't backlash, but it is a bit pricey. ..
use 30# ultra green for plugs
and it varies for mooch rigs depending on where i'm fishing and if its spring or fall...
