World record rainbow?
Saw a picture of a world record rainbow caught at flaming george. They had a tape around it, 34" girth. A friend pulled it up on his e-mail, but now i can't find it, any body seen this pic?

Re: World record rainbow?
...........and it was from Lake Diefenbach in Canada. Both were caught by the Konrad twins. I don't know how it got attributed to Flaming Gorge. I got the same email last week. Just goes to show ya, if its on the internet it must be true.

Re: World record rainbow?
I thought both of those fish were disqualified because they were triploids. They are big trout, but would it be fair to allow them into the record books?

We've been down this road before. I don't think we need to go here again.
We beat this to death last year:

Re: World record rainbow?
No offense fish-on, this discussion may have taken place, but I was not part of it. I was just asking a question, I did read that these fish were disqualified, I was just looking for clarification and it is my opinion that they shouldn't be considered, that doesn't make it wrong or right, just an opinion.

Re: World record rainbow?
If you follow the igfa link above you can see that it was not disqualified, but rather is listed as the current record, while my opinion is that these fish should be in their own classification that is not the way it currently is and if you read through FOB's link to the last discussion of this topic you will see that we did pretty much beat it to death then.

Re: World record rainbow?
If we're going to use that way of thinking, I guess we don't have to talk about what the best lure for catching springers is anymore. Or, what should be done with the sea lions on the willamette. Already discussed it so no need to talk about it anymore.

Discuss away if it will make you feel better. F.O.B. was simply stating that the subject was worked over pretty good and should have long since arrived at the glue factory by now. If you go back and read the entire thread he linked for you, I think you'll agree. As far as should it or should it not be allowed, the IFGA seems to think it's fine. You can disagree all day long, but the IFGA is the rulemaking body and aren't really concerned with the outcome of a thread on i-fish
