Great effort!!!!!!!!!! I know everybody appreciates the fantastic job that you do.

You don't realize how addicted we have become to this site. I went to check something this weekend only to find it down. No fishing reports? No fishing tips? No political discussions.

It's good to have it back up! Hope you can get some rest now.  Thanks again!!!!

Here is what I posted on PP...

Brand spankin shiny new server!
Got up Sunday Morning and ifish was down. Usually, it's just a flip of a switch. My friendly ifish ISP doesn't understand RAID 5, so he hit a couple buttons trying to expedite our return to the world wide web. He hit the wrong one and reinitialized the whole darn thing!
Then... the not so funny comedy of errors continues... He's calls the REAL tech, who really is good, but is human, also.
When tar balling the entire site, he forgets to initiate the program that auto backs ifish up every night.
So, I have a copy of ifish from before the server upgrade, before the infopop upgrades, and I lose one month's postings...
We tried putting the clobbered drives into another system, with a functional
array, and it will not initialize the second array. We can't even try to
look for files.
They are, right now, looking into data recovery, which is rather expensive. However, if the array was re-initialized the striping would have been overwritten making it unrecoverable. Probably not an option.
I'll probably just use the March 9th board and we can be boosted back into time...
:depressed: :depressed: :depressed:
Time to redo the templates, reupload the new smilies, oh....... never mind, but I'll be a busy little springer-less girl. (But then, what's new? )
Ifish will be back, I just have tons of work to do to get there....
I'd like to go play the piano now, OK?

Jen

Gee Jennie, What a Great Job youve done to get us back up and running! I just turned a work friend (female) onto our site. I just wish I knew which mailbox was yours so I could drop off some tokens of my appreciation! Is it the one with the fish through it? You do a Splendid Job as always!

Jenny,

I can only imagine the turmoil, and tears you have had to go through. I'm glad you got a BB back up, even w/o the last months posts. I'm sure we can all get by, Flotilla 4 will still happen, and life will go on for us all!!

I am so awfully sorry.

aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh that's it, my ifish fix. I was gone for five days and came back on-line Monday morning looking to get my ifish fix and.................nnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooo. I was going through some serious withdrawls yesterday, cold sweats, the shakes, even a slight fever I think, but finally, I'm able to get my ifish fix................aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that's better.

Jen, you are ausome and this is the best fishing site out there with the best group of people behind you, thanks for your enormous effort to get us all our ifish fix.

it sounds like we're only out a months worth of info. not too bad for a disaster of this nature. i'm guessing they'll be re-evaluating the backup plans after this.

on the way in this morning i was thinking about all of this and it dawned on me that the infamous north river thread might have seen it's demise.

Jennie,
At this time anything is better than nothing.

You ahve been doing an incredible job with this site and I am glad to see that you have gotten most of it back. What was lost can be regained. I have two servers that routinely give me the run-around so I know your pain.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Some times you don't realize what you have till you loose it. Thanks for the hard work I know this is your life, everyone can tell how much you put into this. Keep in there. Remember some days are diamonds and some days are stones. Those big boulders really are tough.
