Default Cannon Mini Troll... Anyone use one?

I'd like to use my drift boat to lake fish for Kokes and trout, with a down rigger.

The one that's caught my eye is the Cannon Mini Troll.

Both cost and size seem to gel with my interest.

Anyone use them, or have any other options you'd care to toss my way??

I have one and used it for a couple years before I upgraded to a pair of digi-trolls. they are effective at what they do, I used a 6# ball on mine and pulled a number of Bull Trout up from around 80' as well as kokes from 20-50'. The line counter on the "boom" often gets off so it is rarely accurate leading to the necessity of counting the cranks down and up.

I have a similar version made by Robert's (bought from Cabelas). Mine has a 4# ball and fits into a pole holder base socket. I have fished down to 75' with it. One foot per crank. Not as nice as a full size version, but for a small boat, it works great.

Thumbs down Re: Cannon Mini Troll... Anyone use one?

I had very poor luck with these. Bought two and the first time out both the handles sheared off the spool of wire. I only had 4# weights. I bumped up to the Cannon that is about $159. Much better product. I use it on my drift boat as well.

I am flattered but I don't spin that way.
If I was to use a lake troll, I would use one of the mylar units such as Mack's flashlight trolls. And by the way, I have never been considered a "mini"

Smokerjet, I'm going to look into one of the upgraded versions. Thank you for the offer.
