Default New Gear or Tech learned this year?

As we wind down on our winter steelie season (at least here on the SC when everything closes the 31st) I would like to take a few minutes to share, and have you share some of the, "new gear" that has worked for you this year. Maybe a new rod or reel, maybe a new line, hooks? Boots whatever, lets here about it.
Maybe enev stuff that hasn't worked as well as you'd thought.

Reels: I tried the Ambassadeur Morrum 5600, not as good as the Shimano Chronarch's that I fish, but a good reel. Pretty spending at $239.. go with the chronarch.
Spinning reels, I am very happy with my Okuma Epix 20's. I like these over the mid range Shimano reels.
As for line, I had been fishing Fireline.. this year I started fishing Power Pro, great stuff I think I like it better than the fireline.

As for hooks, I finally ordered some Vision stuff. 1/0, #1, #2.. really like them. and theri swivels.. great prices.

What else?
I started fishing the TH 1081 9' 4-8# mod action as my side drifting, small puff ball rod, great light action rod..
I have also been fishing a few of our Forecast rods, TH 1084c, great rod for $100.

Ammerman egg cure, hot orange has been a good producer for me this year.

That's about all the new stuff... maybe I'll think of more later.

Love the Epix 30 after retiring the little chromey cap that was backing the handle screw out. Great drag. Hope to wear it out on a few hundred steelies this summer.....dream on.

I learned a new technique this year for summer steelhead. After faithfully fishing the mouth of the Lewis river for 25 years with orange/red flatfish and spinners I watched the guys using prawn/spinner combos last summer just kick our butts.....They caught 3-5 fish to our one. I'm ready this year!

New gear for me this year is the Epix 30 reel and an AllStar 1083S rod. Both are great additions to the arsenal. As for new techniques for me I learned how to spinner fish for silvers last fall on the Chehalis and the Satsop, what a kick in the pants. Had one day on the Cowlitz in November where we caught silvers and steelhead (My Dad's first) boondoggin' eggs, spinner fishin' and pullin' plugs all in the same day, what a kick!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Where to start.
25-30 pound braided line for float mainline,
Shooting heads for fly fishing
Pink and white jigs
Pink worms
**** floats
Vision hooks (I didn't like them at first because they weren't sharp, but after sharpening they stay sharp and are a very strong hook, recently caught a 32 inch hen on a size 1 red)
Rags don't work, I've tried them everywhere

I could go on. I might have mentioned TH Custom Rods, but I haven't Gotten IT YET! HT

Have had no problem with my epix 30 reel, I do love that drag. Would like to have a 20 also.

I got into a few Rainshadow rods and think they are real sweet for fishing salmon/steelhead. Gloomis is too expensive for my blood, yet I like a nice rod. I got a couple forecast rods, but havent got them built yet.

Did a little boondogging, I think I need a little more practice at feeling for the bite behind the boat.

I have been tinkering with trying to make a better anchor. They all take up to much room in the boat. I know what I want, but havent been able to make it work yet. I may soon get this piece of equipment figured out yet.

I did a lot of mods to my boat, and look forward to a better set up when on the water. Less maintenance and better function in a boat is like a dream.

picked up a pair of breatheable waders and felt boots at the sportsman show and used them once so far. They could become a favorite real soon.

My favorite Salmon rods are my old LCI 906 Excelons, I have caught alot of fish with them the last 13 years but this last year I started worrying that if I broke one I will not be able to find a rod to replace it with, so I started looking and found the new Rogue rods.I bought one, put a new Daiwa CV-Z 300a millionaire on it. I caught a 10 lbs early summer steelhead on it two weeks ago in the Columbia, after springer season I'll know for sure. if it's going to make the grade, so far so good. but I do love my LCIs, I also have a new bottom fishing rod by G Loomis but I haven't had a chance to fish with it yet, I thought about going to Pilars outing at Garibaldi last weekend bottom fishing but we didn't make it, maybe next time.
