Default Kalama River?

Has anyone been up there lately? I'm curious if they are still catching steelies up there. Trying to decide where I want to go this weekend.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Steve

You are wondering the same exact question that I am. I've heard that there were some fish getting caught and thinking about going from pritchards down to the bridge.

East fork has a few fish in it. Caught about a 14 lbs. native today in about 15 min.

Also have been seeing a ton of steelhead by-catch in the commercial nets, so there must be a good amount of fish coming in. About 50 % have been non-clipped winters.

Are you going to boat or bank it? Let me know we will probably cross paths.

If I go, I will be banking it. I have a DB but am new to the area and have never really fished that river. I am also new with the DB so chose to float much easier rivers until I get better with the oars.

Which day will you be up there? Would like to meet fellow Ifishers.

Congrats on the EF fish. Whereabouts on the EF?

Steve

Steelie,
If you want to drift this river send me an email. I know this river pretty good and it is not to bad of a river to float.

Did you see the article in the Columbian this am about all the steelhead being caught by the tangle nets in the lower Columbia. Sounds like a lot of fish still coming up the river. Any steelies still in the North Fork of the Lewis?

O'City. I would like to take you up on that offer sometime. Not this weekend but sometime. Thanks for the offer.

Fish-n-finn. I haven't heard much good out of the N.F. recently. Seems like the fishing was hot until about the new year and then it just stopped. I still hear a few reports of a fish or two caught but nothing has been hot. So if the nets are getting a bunch out of the columbia, where are they going to?

Ill be up there Saturday morning. I'll either be in a blue and white drift boat or a red and silver willy, (we need to decide whos boat gets wet.)

Ya and I can agree with the article about the steelhead getting caught. We were checking boats above Astoria today and saw no Chinook and just a few steelies. The water is really clear, so the sporties should at least have a good weekend on the Columbia.

Oh and if you want an easy drift try Modrow bridge down to the freeway, good water and not a huge distance to travel. Might pick up a Chinook in those areas now.

Good Luck
