Default sunscreen tip

73 degrees and pure spring sunshine all day here in Grays Harbor County WA.

Got me thinking about fishing in the sun and days when sunscreen is a must.

Lots of guys have superstitions about anything smelly, and most sunscreens are loaded with all kinds of goofy-smelling additives that might act as fish repellants.

One no-name product that doesn't seem to put the fish off is Safeway brand unscented. Had lots of double digit days last year while using the stuff.

I apply the sunscrean with a latex glove on and then toss the glove in the trash. No goofy sunscrean smell on my hands or bait...

Maybe it was just a fluke the day I saw it, but I saw 2 guys put sunscreen on their spin glo's for scent when we were out plunking, and limited out on summer steelies in a matter of a few hours!!! As for myself, I think the same way you guys do...sunscreen would repel the fish. But these guys proved me wrong that day for sure

I have the perfect solution to this problem! Smelly Jelly in the little jars has an SPF of 37! I prefer the Special Mix. I like to use it like some use Zinc Oxide! Works great and no nasty lotion on your hands!

Jokester,
Must have been the "Banana Boat" brand of sunscreen. I give my neighbor, Rubber Hooks, a bad time about that stuff. I told him I wouldn't allow it in my boat.

I learned the same thing from David

Jokester - Those guys probably did something like put something in a cleaned up bottle of sunscreen - I know I have a few bottles of go go juice in containers and they are marked differently it's fun to to have a secret sauce/juice
