Default Fly Fishing for Springers?

How many have tried fly-fishin for springers? Would be considering Clack or Santiam..maybe some of the coastal rivers and what flies do you use?
Same as for Steelhead or totally different?
Thanks for the info.

This probably won't help much but the first springers I ever caught were caught on orange, tan and beige Teeny Nymphs. It was way back in 85' or 86' on a guided trip from Fishing Outfitters of Salem (anyone remember them?). We fished the Clack below the dam and did really well pitching those nymphs with lead. Also picked up some nice steelies this way when we went back.

Let us know how you do!

Never been real sucessful at it but it is a fun ride while you got it! The colors that were the most productive were black, purple and insecct green nymphs or cross btwn streamer/nymph. Sometimes add a little flash in for eye grabbing visual dont know if the fishgo better for it or not I have been told they do. Home tied of course, lost too many store bought Most hookups result in fish breaking leader or breaking free. Mostly the chinook are not interested enough. Tied reds oranges pinks too. I have see others get fish on red/yellow streamers sort of Alaskan style. Good luck with it let us know how you do.
