Default Best Way to Fish Mouth of Sandy?

I was thinking of heading out this weekend to fish the mouth of the sandy, and was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on the best way to rig for these early springers? I'll be boating it, any advice would be helpful...thanks!

I have only fished here once with a buddy but we did really good. We anchored in 15-20ft. right on the seam. I don't know what you will use but we were running kwikies on a spreader, about a 3ft dropper and about a 4ft leader. I know this is probably way different than what your sopposed to do but it worked pretty decent for us. I also saw a guy plunking a spin and glow with a shrimp behind his boat and he just hosed the poop out of them. Good luck.

Keeping in mind that you must be inside the markers of the Sandy river. The Columbia doesn't open above I-5 until March 16. You most likely will need a sled to get into the mouth this time of year (runoff water hasn't been released from the dams yet). If you can get in, find a hole and try any of the regular methods.

Drift eggs or anchor up and use a K-14 with Sardine Belly would be my first 2 choices.

Actually my choice for now would be to fish the columbia below I-5 or the willamette.

And wait for March 16 to try the Columbia that far up.

Good luck!

I am about to leave for the mouth of the sandy right now. I'm hoping to find a strong concentration of smelt there. If I can get in close enough with my I\O I'm going to try fly lining some smelt as any chinook in the area are bound to be hammering them. I'll also drift eggs, and if the current is running strong enough I'll also try kwickfish. Will let you know what I find out.
