A fishing buddy of mine just called me; This morning he took a 31lb buck out of the Willamette in the St. Johns bridge area. He's calling it a hog and says it's so fat with smelt it's shaped like a football. Last week he got one also in Oregon City weighing 22 lbs. If this is any indication of the size of the fish this spring, imagine what the fall fish will look like!!
I sure know what I'm doing this weekend; but I'm torn between the mouth of the Sandy, Coon Island, or the lower Willamette. Anyone else get a springer this week?
Yep, they're definitely in! Last easter I boated five chinook at Bonneville in under two hours, and Easter is only three weeks away. I'm looking for a butt-loada springers to be here any time now.
I think that as soon as we get some moisture from this storm system we could have a great year of fishing.
The nets come out tomorrow and I think this next week will be the GO TO TIME! I'll be out there snow or no snow.

The boat is leaving the garage tomorrow, I'll have to stick close to home 'cause I only have until noon (O.C., L.O., Sellwood?). Thinking maybe St. Helens on Sunday.
