Looking for some help, advice and or suggestions. Sturgeon baits? I know how to do some large baits. Whole shad cut notches run half hitches down body keeping in line with shadow line, or whole lamprey, or even filet squid wrap around a couple smelt wrap with thread. Add a couple sand shrimp to give the ********* something to pick at. My short fall is smaller bait set-ups. Doing quite well at oversized, however when I take my boys the big guys are boring to them and I’d like to get some shaker action to keep up their interest. Post or e-mail, I’ll take it any way I can get it. Or if it’s a really big secret. Climb on board.

If you want shakers and lots of them, a single smelt or half a smelt will do the trick. Squid or a single sandshrimp with a worm on the end drives them crazy. Hook your smelt through the head, run the hook back up under the lips, throw a couple hitches down the back to the tail (I personally trim the tails off to help with the spin in heavy current) and your in the money. Take your squid and put the hook through upper part of the finger where the flaps are at. Then run your hook down and put her straight through the two eyes. Straighten your leader and slam 2 half hitches on the upper part of the finger. That should hang that slimey thing straight. Those are my "go to" baits that have caught more shakers and keepers than a calculater can count, not to mention a few BIG DADDIES :grin:
