I fished the annual trout tournament last Sunday. Fishing was on fire we caught 40 fish in 4 hours, trolling the triangle but mainly right down the middle. Fish caught on wedding rings and two split shots. We anchored and fished power bait for a half hour and it was non stop action. Winning fish was somewhere around 20 inches and a couple lbs.

The tournament was put in place by a long time lincoln city resident. He puts it together annualy. Ten dollar entry fee and 3 dollars for the bbq afterwards. Big fish won 328 $ and second place was 200 ish. Kids winner won a nice new rod and reel combo. Previous years there was a tournament in place to benefit cancer research. Prizes donated by locals for winners of the tournament , entry fees go toward cancer research. I heard it would not be happening this year and thought it was quite a shame. I would rather fish for prizes knowing my money went to a good cause.

Fished Sunday, lots of fish. Wife fished a wedding ring trailing a worm with 1/8th oz weight and I started with a Little Cleo. She did better with the worm rig. I changed to a spinner trailing a "Gulp" egg and started catching almost as soon as my spinner hit the water.

Going back tomorrow.

Thinking about going to Devils Lake to get away from the heat. Does anyone know how the algae is at this time. Is it fishable, or should I pick another lake?
