Springer This Morning 4/8
I have a picture but still can't figure how to send it. I could e-mail it to somebody that knows how to post it.
Anyway, went out in the fog and started fishing about 8:30 near Caterpiller. I told my partner Tom that the bait was still frozen so go ahead and throw your kwikfish in until the herring thaws and then we'll wrap them. Well, 20 minutes later his pole startes bobing and he ends up with a crome bright 18lb hatchery hen. We sat back down and 10 minutes later the guy fishing next to us lets out a yell - Tom's pole is going off again. This time it was a native, looked to be between 20 and 25. He was glad I took him out fishing but I ended up on his S--- list. When I tried to remove the hooks the leader got wraped around my thumb and snap there went the fish with his kwikfish. Next time I'm going to use a net. Couple of detailes -- 24ft of water, k14 silver and chartruse, 3ft dropper, 6ft leader.
This was our first time anchored up this year. Felt good to get the skunk out early.

Re: Springer This Morning 4/8
Does anyone ever troll with kwikfish? I always hear of people anchoring with them but never trolling? Sorry if its a stupid question but have to ask.

Re: Springer This Morning 4/8
Steelhead_Scout - Most guys troll with herring. But I don't see why you couldn't pull a flatfish or other plugs. We pull em once in a while when the tides not running.

Re: Springer This Morning 4/8
I have better luck pulling kwikfish when I am in my DB rowing, or trolling(with a motor) down river with them. But thats just me and I know other guys will say never troll with them, but thats what I usually catch half of my springers with each year. When I am using the motor, I usually stick with herring though.

Re: Springer This Morning 4/8
Great fish and thanks for the details - like dropper length - in your post. When it comes to catching springers, it's the details that count!
