Thumbs down Haystack report

Just got back from Haystack. A lot of boats and a lot of fish on the f finder...trolled and still fished, nothing. Plus I heard this lake just got stocked? Water temp was mid 50's but there was no bite whatsoever.

right there with ya. was there for a few hours today and did not see or hear any good reports. we did catch 2 decent cats and saw to others but the trout fishing was not good. i was wondering what size of trout they really stocked in there because i saw multiple schools of very very small trout. around 4-6 inches. oh well it was nice to get out

ya it was stocked about 4 days ago. i was there while they were stocking. they were even still stocking the next day. while they were stocking the bite was great by the fishing pier at the inlet. the next day was very few and so the next day. yesterday i didn't go and today i went down to deschutes for the opening weekend. some people had slight success off from power bait. green, and chartreuse were the two go to colors i seen. mostly suckers but a couple trout were caught. they are biting early morning and late evening. soon as the sun hits that water they go deep.

quick reply, all the fish they stocked i believe were all legals, 8". the fish i caught the day they were stocking were natives around 12-14 inch. and that was a cloudy day around 10 am to 1. around 12:30 the sun came out and they disappeared

caught about 5 today at the inlet using small 1/8th oz silver panther martin spinners. 3/8 oz egg weight and 2 1/2 ft leader. quite aggressive chasing and hard hitting. about 10-12 inch resident. the schools of hatchery are there. bait fishermen had no luck. there was one boat on the water. didnt look to me like they had any success.

Well with all the poor reports I thought I should throw in a picture from a couple weeks ago. We went 3 for 6 trolling gold and gold/red spoons for 2 hours in the morning before taking the fish to a horse show. This is one of the smaller brooders that I have caught out of haystack, probably a 3-4 pounder.
