Hav'nt been up that way for quite awhile...sounds like a good place for a river clean-up day.Its sad it dose'nt take any extra effort to pack out what you pack in.

Haven't been to the Santiam in years but location is really irrelevant with this problem. Here's what I don't understand but maybe I'm mentally challenged, so trash dumpers please feel free to "enlighten" me. These people apparently enjoy the outdoors and at the same time they degrade the experience for themselves and everyone else?! The sad part is these neanderthals probably wonder why so much private access has been lost over the years. I guess "real men" don't pick up trash.

I fish at the bridge every so often in mill city. I have about a half of a plastic gracery bag of junk every time I leave. Its sickening. You are right on about salmon season... Its gona be terrible there...

I have never fished the Santiam, but would gladly spend a day picking trash for some information on the river.

It is a shame that we can't be more proactive regarding this issue. I mean, how do we keep people from doing this. Maybe if offenders fishing licenses were be suspended for a couple a years if they were caught. Does anybody else have any ideas.

I hear what you guys are saying. I fish the S. Santiam at Lebonon dam and that has to be one of the worst "gear dumps" there is. Maybe the Staties could start to issue littering citations.

I think we have a plan! Somewhat involved, but I think it can work for this river especially. Locals, school work program and county commissioners involvement, along with S.O.L.V, and many others networking towards a common goal. I will keep all posted as to any help needed, but will mostly be done by vigilance of the Watchdogs of the community. Thanks to all that are doing what they can to keep it clean and green!
