Joe,

How old is your Merc? I can honestly say that I do know of one shop here in the Eugene/Springfield area who is honest, Experienced, knowledgeable, quick, fair with price and one of the few that will work on even older model motors. The owner Randy, is hands on and is always in the shop. He is always willing to help you out over the phone too! Sometimes he is able to tell you how to fix a problem without bringing your motor into him if it's something minor that you can work on. They are one of the few that will go totally out of thier way to help you.

Talk to Lee and tell him James told you about them. I know that many people always say this, but I do know them very well.

The shop is:

R-Repair & Service Inc
244 39th St
Springfield

541-726-6645

Randy Mcdougall - Owner
or
Lee Chase - Partner

Good Luck!

James

James, the motor is a '95 and it will be in their shop this thursday. I don't feel like being towed in from 6 miles offshore again  Thanks for the info... Joe

Salmonator, I can recommend Dennis Fast, here in the Salem area. His shop is over in West Salem, he is getting busier all the time. He was the main mechanic when Gill Ward had his boat shop here in Keizer. He went solo about 8 years ago, and I have been always happy with his work, his integrety, and his prices. If this fits, call him at 503-363-2898 -- Dennis's Boat Shop

Wow 6 miles? I'm sure that was not fun. One of your biggest fears come true! Glad to hear you're taking to R-Repair. Like I said they will take care of you.

I think this weekend was bad for several people and motors. I was in the sturgeon derby and met a guy who drove from Idaho to be there. His 454 seezed up on him not too long into the start of the race. Another guy lost his outboard in the derby. A customer of mine lost the water pump in his outboard and froze the motor up in Newport.

Hope it isn't anything to major!

James
