Default First Rogue Springer!!

The first confirmed spring salmon was caught of February 24...a biggie, 34lbs. The ones before the first of April are usually big!!

Anyway, it's the first of many for this river, and guess what?? No gillnets, no fin-clips!!

Is this a normal time for a first Rogue springer?

Actually, there's normally a couple caught in February, but in the past, these have often been confirmed as VERY late Elk River winter Chinook. The picture I saw makes it pretty obviously a Rogue springer, looks like a silver football.

Casey Weirbinski (sp?), an old friend that lived at Illyhie used to start fishing springers above Watson Creek on Valentines day.

I was out of town all weekend. Anybody know if anybody caught any more in the last couple of days? All fall I can't wait for steelie season, now I'm jonesin' for my first springer of the year! Rain coming this week, the bite could be really hot by the weekend.
