Call Fisherman's to sign up. I hear people have swapped anchor spots??? that happens I guess, but remember there is more than one spot and I know that no one will leave early this year. Winning is nice    But WINNING without cheating is the BEST.

YEEHA!

TY, I'm signed up and look forward to going.

I heard last year that one of the winning boats had a friend who anchored in a prime hole before daylight and simply released off the anchor when the tournament boat showed up. This seems a little unethical, not that any thing unethical ever happens in the Derby. Do you know if this kind of thing is going to be allowed?

finclipped,

This is to clarify whatever you may have heard.
I was in THE winning boat last year!
We had no one parked waiting for us to show up and grab a anchor line.
From the start we had over an hour of travel time to our spot. The day before the derby we pre-fished this location and had released over 30 keeper sized fish between four fishers.
I'm not saying it don't happen but in this case some one is pullen your chain.

What I heard was all here-say and not verified by myself. The rumor I heard was that it was the winning boat who did this, but its nice to know that's not the case. It may have happened with another boat or maybe someone had a slight case of ***** envy.

After hearing about the anchor swap, the gillnetters trying to cheat, and the fact Linde wouldn't allow past winners to compete because they were allegedly tying off keepers and everything, it all seemed like a croc. Again I can't personally substantiate all these things, but its hard to ignore when your being told these things. Doesn't matter, because I am still fishing.

Streamside, I'm not throwing stones. Good luck. We found a nice pocket of fish last week and hopefully they will be there on Saturday.

finclipped,

Not sure if you remember, but I posted a write up after the derby on my adventues of being on the winning team. It was a great feeling to have had the honor of win that derby with my two partners. With in a day I got word of a rumor being spread that we cheated. That great feeling quickly turned into a huge pain in my gut! I could not understand why someone, that did not even know me would attack my integrity. I personaly tracked down and confronted one of the guys that was speading lies and set the record straight. I beleive that I am a person of honor and integrity. Values are important to me! We were three fishen buddies that wanted to have a good time and by chance we came in with 72.8 lbs of fish. That winning weight was less then a pound more then second place. I fish for the joy and pleasure it gives me and I am sometimes rewarded.
I did see those three huge fish that were at the weight in. They'd been dead for some time.
I hope that Eric makes a point at the capt. meeting Friday night that all fish being weight in must be alive!
Good luck to all those entered and I wish the winners well in dealing with the after effects of lies and rumors.

Streamside no matter what anybody says you guys are still the champs  and the ones to beat this year. I know your fish were fresh and others may not have been. I think all fish should be weighed alive and show some (not all) being released right there at the dock. Wouldn't that be cool to show on TV  Streamside are you guys heading back up to that spot. GOOD LUCK

After talking it over, we decided not to partake this year. Our captain did not get an invite for one. No clue as to why. As Terry said to me ~ Hey we fished had a great time and won! The chance of us winning again is very slim and if we did EVERYONE would say we cheated! Besides, Eric would have had to give up that #1 plate.

Last year we ran down river for over an hour! Once there we had to wait for over an hour for the tide to turn and run out. Pulled out at 12:00 noon to make it back in time to the weigh in. So we had less then 3 hours of fishing that day.

ALL-RIGHT STREAMSIDE AND YOU TOO TEAMYEHA HERE WE GO,

First of all Streamside I'm sorry you did't get your invitation in the mail. But like I told you in my post to one of your team mates on my other post on this board. Most problems are because of a change of address or improporly filled out entry form.I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU IN THE DERBY.I will elevate you to reigning champion and pay for your team to come out and play. The number one team for this year was auctioned off at the NSIA BANQUET back December and brought a good sum for the CAUSE we are all trying to help.As far as anybodys integrity goes it was the team that turned 3 58" plus fish that caused someone to question your and my integrity. I'm sorry that how I handled a real bad situation affected you but the RIGHT GUYS WON. As far as having a anchor placed for you its not against the rules. If it was how could I prove it? When we started this it was for FUN! As far as Linde not letting a team not compete that is pure garbage. That team were and are good friends and after winning 3 years in a row were getting a real hard time ( Boos and jeers) at the awards banquet and decided not compete. Now for the biggest JOKE of all. If we were to promote catch and release of these sturgeon we would all get tickets for harassment of wildlife!----From now on I would appreciate questions that can be answered in yes or no because I suck at typeing. Thanks you guys for all your support I could'nt do it without you. ****Love Eric

Eric,

What you did at last years derby took sand! You have nothing to be sorry for on our account. By your actions in handling a very difficult issue, I beleive it only strengthend the integrity of this derby.
