Sweet! I fished up there for the fisrt time a few weeks ago and I couldn't beleive how much of the land was logged. Some of it in direct proximity to the rivers. This is good news

Western Rivers Conservancy and the Wild Salmon Center deserve a huge amount of credit for the work they've done on this project and many others like it. Western Rivers has bought and donated large amounts of land in the past few years on some of the greatest steelhead rivers in the west. The John Day, Sandy, Hoh, Skagit/Sauk and Smith Rivers all have protected land that has been purchased and put into the public trust because of WRC.

Support WRC and WSC whenever you can, and thank them for preserving critical habitat for the fish we love.

Agree about WRC's work. They are doing great things all over the West, but being based in Portland has allowed us to see some great properties get protected. Their deal on the Murtha Ranch on the John Day goes to show what fast acting and having dollars to support them can do. That will be public access for all of us for fishing soon. They are doing great work on the Hood River near Punch Bowl and it has taken them a lot of years to put together the string of pearls along the Hoh, but persistence is paying off.
