Default Detroit Kokes?

Heading to Detriot on the 22nd for our annual trout trip. We have done this every year for the last 7 years or so. Of all the fish we have ever caught there not one has been a koke! We usually fish up around kanes just trolling Triple Teasers behind 1/2oz of lead! We hammer 'em! But after fishing at merwin last year and whackin the kokes and loving the tasty meat I really wanna get some outta detroit this year. Any advice on where to start? We don't have riggers so it will most likely be a slingblade with a hootchie behind it. If the kokes are a little deeper than that will troll is there anyway to get my gear down there without effecting the action? Any advice on where to look for them? Thanks for any help.
Ben

Trolling for rainbows I end up with about 1/2 Kokanee and a few Chinook around a foot long mixed in. I usually see large concentrations of Kokanee at about 100-150 feet straight out from Mongold even with the island. Jigging for them would probably be best if you lack down riggers.

I have been running a slingblade with a hootchie with a 1oz Cannonball sinker tied in a dropper loop a couple feet up the mainline. I just let it out slowly and try to estimate by line out versus line angle how deep I am running it. most of the time I think that I am running it 15-20' deep with 40-50' of line (line angle 35-45 degrees down running 1-1.2 mph). Mostly I start with 50' of line and then adjust depending on where the kokes are on the fishfinder and if I am catching them.

Troll south of the Island. They love to hang right in there near the south shore of the lake.

This time of year, I would hit Kinney Creek first. Toll down one side and back the other. My wife always smokes them this time of year back in that inlet.

Try both of the points on either side the entrance to Kinney.

I would also troll along the shore straight across the Res from Kinney Creek.

Divide Creek is good too, troll down the Southern shore. I also have had good luck on the point on the North side where the Divide Creek outlet meets the lake.

I do alright at the island but it has never been as hot as the other areas. Fish shallow, top 20'.

Where is "Divide Creek" located?

We have always done well trolling around Kinney Creek and down by the dam. Since I go by myself a lot of the time, I start at the logs by the dam. If there aren't other boats on the lake, I'll troll right down the middle. With a triple teaser and 1.5 or 2 oz weight.

Here is my trolling map. Kinney Creek is on the lower left and Divide creek is on the lower right. http://kentcannon.com/Lake_Fishing/Oregon_Lakes/detroit.htm
Hope that helps. I was up there this Sunday. Lots of fish on either side of the island, but lots of competition. The mouth of both Kinney and Divide had lots of fish but no competition. The largest school was across from Kinney on the highway side of Detroit lake.
