Default honda 8 gas leak

I was changing the oil out for this season and getting my motors ready when I found that the rubber boot over the rod the the throttle cable is attached to was cracked or desolved and leaking fuel when I turned the throttle. Is this a common problem that I have to deal with every so often or am I just lucky The motor is an 05 Honda 8 hp. I ran it all last season(s) without a problem. Is this an expensive fix I.e. shop or could I just get my hammer and vice grips out.

Thanks for the help

Do the right thing and get it replaced... I would not want to be on the water, and need to have some tow me back in. What would Parker do??

It's at Nelsons right now, just want to know if it is going to be a problem in the future, and if so is it a job brother love could do. Parker would not have noticed it. He only fished 30' from the launch on the Siletz anyway.

Mooky, Mooky Mooky, if you would have actually takes the boaters course instead of cheating off the internet, you would have known that the leaking of the fuel is a sign of the fuel tank being overly full. My guess is that you were prolbally so busy trying to figure out how to get your boat back on the trailer after you launched it sideways at Freds Marina that you forgot to put the gas cap back on and now its full of rain water. Honda 8 owners in Mcminnville with a 18 ft alumaweld sled should know that!! Need any more advise, just hollar.

Ok. I'll leave you alone, at least till you put the boat in the water for the first time this year and you forget the plug or the transom tiedown straps or something like that!

Thats a good idea, light it on fire, no more gas, no more problem. Might even melt the crack/leak shut. Ok now i'll leave you alone
