Default VHF Antenna Mount Location on NR Seahawk?

I'm looking to put an 8' VHF antenna on my 20' NR Seahawk but I am not sure which is the best way as far as mounts go.

I have a stainless steel Shakespeare ratchet mount but with the shape of the Seahawk, the mount has to sit near the outer edge of the gunwale if I want the antenna to lay down on the gunwale without the tip of the antenna angled out toward/off the edge of the boat.

My other thought is to use the Shakespeare stainless rail mount on the bow rail. Any thoughts from those who have antennas on their Seahawks? Thanks.

I have a 21 foot Seahawk, with the same type of mount you are talking about. Mine is mounted on the Port side gunnel almost even with the wind shield. When I lay my antenna down it goes straight down the gunnel and lays flat. Then I secure it in place for travel. I also have a tower, and will have to bend the top of the antenna to put in the up position.

I would mount on your roof if you can, or tower. If you don't have one of those than the gunnel like Wren mentions. If you have not gotten the antenna yet, PM Lurking Out Loud regarding Digital Antennas.

I don't have an arch and I already have the antenna (digital). It looks like my only options are a mount on the gunwale or on one of the bow rails. Anyone have a photo of their gunwale mount placement?

Any thoughts about putting the antenna on the port or starboard side? My radio is mounted on the starboard side under the throttle.

My VHF antenna is on the Port side, I also have both a Digital radio and my VHF radio, both are mounted on the right side by my shifter. My digital anntena is on the right side gunnel. The tower mount would be better, but since you do not have one, this is a option for you.

Mine was mounted on the starboard side on the gunnel inline with the windshield. I moved it when I built my arch and moved it again to the hardtop this past winter when I made that.

My boat looks like your before photo. I have a better idea now though. Thanks.
