Re: thief valley is hot.
Nice trout. I have always wanted to fish Thief valley but have never made it. I hope to get over there this fall and fish Phillips and Unity on the same trip. Thanks for the report.

Re: thief valley is hot.
Looks like you did well. I've been trying to get over that way for the last 2 weekends but other things have come up. I was thinking about heading over this weekend but with the holiday and the crazy weather, i think that i will just stay home and maybe try again next weekend. Good to see that it's doing good so far. I was told last week that the bite has been a little slow but the fish are big.

Re: thief valley is hot.
Three of us fished there last Monday. Caught 8 that were 15 to 20 inch
hogs. Had the wind blowing pretty much all day, rain showers, and the high wind and monsoon hit as we were taking out at 7 PM.
The Wednesday before, my cousin and neighbor were fishing at Theif, and a high wind caught two boaters before they could make it back to the ramp. One was blown up on the rocks, splitting the hull open, and took on water. The other swamped, capsized, and sunk. Did not hear what happened to those aboard, but presumably they all made shore.
Union County Sheriffs Dept. and divers were recovering the sunk boats
while we were fishing. A Marine Deputy motored over to us, and advised
the ramp would be tied up for a while so they could right and put a boat
on the trailer. Have pictures of it all, but don't know how to post them.
Intresting and miserable day on the water, but fun for diehard fisherman !
Anyone wants pics, will e-mail. Please PM

That place can get pretty hairy when the wind starts to blow. A couple of years ago me and a couple of friends were over there in his 14 foot aluminum and the wind came up hard and fast and we were down close to the dam. We got back to the ramp with lifevests on but everytime the boat went over a wave and back down it was only about 2 inches from taking water.

Re: thief valley is hot.
Any advice on what kind of Rapala's to use(size, color)? I've never trolled for trout and was wanting to head over there today or tomorrow weather permitting of course!
Any other kind of lures work good out there?
Thanks!
