Default Marine fuel treatment

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issue.
I have used the red treatment for several years with good results and with the worries about ethanol lately I picked up some of the green stuff for marine applications.
Now I am having idling problems with the kicker motor(15hp honda). The main would run OK and the kicker would run only with the choke on full. close the choke and it dies.
I took the carb apart and cleaned it completely and it runs again but I won't be using any of the green anymore.
anyway I don't know if this is an isolated thing or if others are experiencing something similar.
cheers
Maury

I've used the marine variety with no issues, even in my classic cars. Seems to be fine. I suspect something else is the culprit such as contaminated fuel getting in the tank?

Works fine for me, just like the red did, just the way it goes with small outboard carbs.

Did you run the motor for a while to make sure the treated fuel was into the carb? If you left untreated fuel in the carb then that will cause problems.

never thought of AVGAS, that's got to cost a bunch to fill up with.

maybe it was just needing a good carb cleaning, that's why I had asked if anyone else had issues with it.
Thanks for the feedback though.
cheers

The issue with ethanol is that it is alcohol and it eats on certain elements of carburetors not alcohol friendly. Newer motors have more ethanol friendly parts, old carbs may not.

If you take the carb apart and see it has melted parts or deteriorated parts.... ethanol is your problem. Remember that when you use fuel treatment it contains alcohol and all you are doing is adding the amount of alcohol in your tank. Effectively you now have E15-20 instead of E10. That's not good! Find a non-ethanol station and fuel up and eliminate all (or at least most of) your problems.
