Default 15 HP Johnson Vintage 1956 Starting Problems

I have a 1956 15 HP Johnson that I can not get started without spraying fuel in plugs or way back in the carb. It will fire and run till that small amount of fuel is gone and that is it. The carb is clean with a new seal right above the float. The pressure tank is good along with lines and connections. Fuel is getting to carb because if I prime too much it will flood out the front of the carb. Any advice would be great, thanks!

Sounds like ignition is working, so I think you need carb work. Should not flood no matter how hard you pump the tank. I have a 57 18hp Evinrude (not much different than your motor), converted to a real fuel pump, single fuel line and can use new plastic tanks. I pump my primer till its hard, no carb flooding. Will usually start with in two pulls, depending how well I set the idle knob.

Good Luck,
Dan
