Default Multiple lures for springers

How many of you out there use 2 lures while fishing the Columbia for springers ( maybe a kwick-
fish on bottom and an Alvins or spinner 3ft. above). Is this more hassle than it is worth. Does
it require a much heavier dropper? Should be able to cover a lot more water depth.

I have done it for URB's but not Springers. I found it more trouble than its worth, especially if there is any junk in the water that sticks on lures/line. I do know people who swear by it and catch fish. Personally I think it is for those who lack confidence in their lure of choice. Can you say K-15?

I use two while trolling in the willamete but not in the columbia. Fishing was so good last spring you didnt need two lures out in the Columbia. In the Willamette I run my spinner on the bottom rig and bait on top, figuring the spinner is an atractor and fish see up better than they see down. My upper rig is on a slider. Swivel on the main line, T-bead under that then spreader or Three way for the bottom rig and dropper. Just push a tooth pick into the t-bead wherever you want that rig set. Can make a mess after landing a fish but it is easy to fix.

I have tried that many times, especially last spring when I was marking fish at the middle of the water column. It never seemed to matter. I think it is just too much hassle for what its worth. And because I only run one rig, I can use a sliding weight dropper which, in my humble opinion, is the only way to go. These spring fish are HOT fish and always seem to flinch at the wrong moment. The biggest springer I have ever caught happened only because I was using a sliding rig. I set the hook on the fish and it immediately swam over to my buddy's rig and the dropper line got snagged onto his prawn rig. He was able to reel all the way in and cut my dropper line and free eachother so I could fight the fish. If I had been using a double rig then I could not have been able to use a sliding weight dropper... and the fish would probably never been caught! Just my own opinion though. I have seen other anglers do very well on double and even triple rigs. For me...it is just too much to bother with.
