Evinrude 115 FICHT ... engine problem ???

Couple ofweeks ago there was a post about 115 Evinrude starving out, I had replied but ... "famous last words" ... this Sunday was at Willamette Park to go fishing at Sellwood ... could not get the 115 started at all, would start and run as long as I held the key (choke) but as soon as I let go of the key, it would die, starved of gas I guess. Darn near drained the battery trying to get it started ... but by doing so I guess I pressurized the fuel lines (one main line with a splitter to the 4 stroke kicker) cause the Honda kicker that I usually beat up on to get it started, powered up on the second pull so we used it to troll the river and fish.
So ... I'm thinking there may be a leak from "O" ring deteriating or maybe the fuel filter is clogged and sucks debris into the line/screen when it chokes down ... ANY OTHER THOUGHTS?

Had a similar problem w/ my 1994 Evinrude. Would start and then just stop. Turned out to be a short in wiring. Might check to see if anything is corroded(sp) from your key to the starter like mine was. I took mine to OC marine (won't do that again, said they'd start on it on monday, they just didn't say it would be 4 mondays from now.) Took it to Tom's outboard afterwards for some work on the pump. Great service and work was done on time. Actually did a lot more than I asked and didn't charge me for it.

My Evinrude was the starver...found out today I had 60#s pressure in #4 cylinder...starving motor now anchor material...anyone need a jet pump for a 115 evinrude, I've got one to sell.
