Brownlee camping and fishing?????
We are coming home fom Iraq finally and want to go fishing and camping at Brownlee Resevior. We will have a couple of drift boats we will fish out of. We plan on being up there for a week starting the second week in May. My questions are how many people are up there that time of year? Do we need to reserve camp sites now in order to get them all next to each other? Where, in your opinions, are the best places to go? I see there are several camp grounds. We want something as secluded as possible however not going to rough it since we will have the ladies with us. We will be pretty much fishing for everything.

Re: Brownlee camping and fishing?????
Woodhead on the Idaho side is a great choice, it has the amenities such as showers and bathrooms, running water at the camp site, etc. There are no reservations. But they usually have space, although you will see some folks at that time of year. The key is to go during the week, as the weekends are substantially busier. In addition, the launches are very nice and there is a little store up the hill with some decent food and a selection of equipment. Welcome back.

Yep! Weekends can get crowded in May, espically memorial weekend, If you want the good spots on the weekends you better call & reserve ahead.

Re: Brownlee camping and fishing?????
We launch at the campground at Richland and then go find a secluded place to camp. Then we come back to the campground during the day for a shower and to go into town for supplies. Also, that way you only have to pay the launch fee. We've gone twice on Labor Day weekend, and it wasn't as crowded as you would think. You could still get a campsite if you wanted with no reservation.

Re: Brownlee camping and fishing?????
Well Dave, most likely you won't be the only IFishers over there.
We'll probably be at Hewitt Park in Richland about that time. Best to call ahead, but usually not an issue that time of year. Might depend on weather though, good forecast you might want to call ahead & reserve.
You drift boats, motors or not?

We will be tenting it and yes we are running motors and electric motors. We are going ahead of the ladies to scout out a place two days in advance and they will come out with the kids.

I roll with electric and tent and Woodhead is really nice for that! Easy water access, you can do some bank fishing as well. There are some pockets to hit close to the camp site. They have friendly staff. Woodhead!!

Re: Brownlee camping and fishing?????
D.S. First off thank you for your service. I don't know to much about the Power Arm of the Snake other than they do catch a lot of fish there. Idaho Power has some great campgrounds and fishing is pretty good. At Woodhead up around the corner is Brownlee Creek, that time of year it will have some good fishing there. Check out Ihe Idaho Power sites about the Camping
