Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
I hear that Custom Weld is coming out with a new model that features a walk-around motor. My old JetPace had that set-up. It seems like the ideal layout for an inboard. Does anybody have any experience with this brand???

Thumper,
Are you getting tired of that ugo sized
boat? Go Big! It seems that all the rage
is now 24 and 25 foot open sleds. I want
one 40 feet long, that way I could walk
troll from the back of the boat to the
front. Its getting closer to that
wonderful time of the year. I love a boat
parade, and the people are just so NICE!

Re: Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
My dad has a 2002 21' Custom Weld Storm. It has the high deck over the motor and a full hard top. Ive only had the chance to fish out of the boat once so I havent formed an opinion of the high deck yet. One thing I do like about it is all the room it gives you to walk around. Im not too keen on being that high off the water while fishing though.

Re: Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
Yeah. The new model comes in many lenghts but the main Idea is that the motor is hooked up on a drive shaft thus moving the motor forward allowing you to walk around it it 360. Makes for great fishing space. Stays on step at 300 less R.P.M. and keeps the transition of the vee more into bay and Columbia river chop. Nice new toy!

Re: Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
Try Maxxum Marine in Eugene. Custom Weld doesnt sale their boats factory direct.

Re: Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
Like Willierower said. Maxxum Marine or actually they are Unique MFG. They carry the Custom Weld and then manufacture their own boat. They are at 2780 W. 11th in Eugene or you can call them @ 541-686-3572. They are great guys to deal with. Honest as you will find in the industry.

Re: Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
Thumper,
I have looked at some of the present Custom Welds at a dealership between Portland & St. Helens off Hiway 30. The boats were pretty nice, but the dealership does not need our business!!!
First, they will not take the boat into the Columbia. Multnomah Chan. YES
Second, The boat I ordered (not from this dealer) had to be taken to this dealer to have a Yamaha mounted. I went to this dealer to see my new boat that had been ordered for months. This outfit did everthing but tell me to get off the property.
Now, granted I did not order the boat from them, but I think that I did actually PURCHACE a 115
Yamaha from them. I gotta believe the made a few bucks on the deal.
Third, If you need ANY parts, go elsewhere. If the parts are available (in stock) it will still
take you 15-20 min. to buy them.
I guess my point is I really dislike giving my money to a business that treats customers or even potential customers in this manner.

Re: Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
Also available at a Seattle dealer. I'm sure the factory wouldn't want to lose a sale. Call them dirrect and let them know what you want. They can do it. They don't call them Custom Weld for nothing.

Re: Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
dogrobber I'm glad you said that about that dealership. I've had almost the exact same experiance.I thought I ****** the guy off some how. Seems to me if you start asking questions about a $9000 outboard you shouldn't be told "I'm busy now come back later.

Re: Custom Weld Walk-Around Design?
dogrobber & urb,
You should have told them, "I'm sorry you don't have time for me. I'll stop by with my new boat and motor that I purchased from someone else, that way you and your boss can see how much money you screwed yourself out of by being so rude to me.
...oh, and have a nice day".
Just a thought.
