Default Broken motor case

What kind of metal is 9.9hp yahama motor cases made of and can they be welded?

Are you talking about the plastic engine cover or the engine block or the housing?

I believe they are a cast aluminum, I had a Mercury that was cast aluminum and I had the sked welded once, no problems.

Hey,Jedcraft its the part of the metal cowling that bolts between the power head and the lower end.

If it's an older Yamaha they had real corrosion issues. I had to replace the one on a '99 it was rotted so bad. They can be found but are not cheap.
