Default got paint?

Help! I'm rebuilding an old wood drift boat and need to repaint it. I want to use good quality one-part polyurethane/epoxy paint, but I can't find any locally. I tried West Marine dot com, but I might as well bend over and cough!
Anybody know of a place in Southeastern Oregon where I can get decent supplies at a decent price without having to drive all weekend? I'm two hours from Coos Bay, three hours from Grants Pass, and farther than that from everywhere else.

Hey Leaky waders, may I quote you, "the problem is, Anybody know of a place in Southeastern Oregon"? I belive your are off about 300 miles or so on your location. Have you heard the song. that goes something like this" California here I come"? You live in a great place as long as you don't need paint for your boat. Perahps you could look at Cabellos.com and see if they have any paint for your boat. Stick with your plan, it will be worth the wait once you do get the one-part polyurethane/epoxy paint. Good luck and wish I had time to come down for a little fishing.

let me talk to my paint rep. I probably can get you a good deal through my account @ Sherwin Williams. I'll call the industrial store tommorrow and see what they have. I've got a good size bussiness and some great pricing. I'll let you know. Of coarse you'll have to pay shipping costs.

That paint is expensive no matter where you buy it. :depressed: I paid $25 per quart when I painted a wood sled I rebuilt a few years ago. On the up side it shouldnt take more than a quart to paint over the epoxy since it doesnt absorb it. The boat is clothed and epoxy coated right?

you might try looking for links through
http://www.woodenboat.com/sites.htm

or through

http://www.boat-links.com/index.html

or search around. That paint is always going to be spendy though. But you should be able to do better than West.

Thanks for all the help everybody! The links and info have been invaluable! The Boat Owners site has been real helpful, but I think for me to get the right stuff to fix this thing it's going to mean a weekend away from the South Coast. Becasue it's heavy/flamable/toxic/etc., the shipping costs are reeedikulous!
So I've talked my wife into a little three-day holiday up to Portland. She thinks we'll be spending most of our time in shops, museums, and clubs. She doesn't realize that there will be a fair amount of time rooting around in boatyards and marine stores as well.
So the next question is; where's the best place (or places) for boat paint, glass, filler, etc in the PDX/Salem/Eugene corridor?

I got all of my supplies from Ray Heater. I needed a lot of help reviving a wood sled and he went out of his way to help me. I had to cut holes in the hull  and repair them. Ray had all of the fillers, graphite, etc.

At the time though I don't think many places carried West Systems Epoxy but I know Fisherman's Marine Supply and West Marine do now.

Edit: you might check out these guys as well.
