Default Poly leaders??

I have searched many forums and read many things about poly leaders but I still have one question. I currently use a Airflo skagit head with tips that are 15 feet long and T8, T6 and I have a T14. If I wanted to try a poly leader does it replace the tips I have and attach directly at the end of my skagit head?

Thanks.

Yes, but they are better on a scandi or a wincutter. I fish the 15' polyleaders on a skagit in low water conditions. It's tough to keep the anchor with a 10' poly leader and a big (550+) skagit, the lighter stuff is OK, and with switch rods it's OK. For all practical fishing applications with a skagit, assume you are using a compact skagit and a spey rod, t8, t11, ect are more efficient.

My $.02.

Poly leaders are not designed to be connected directly to Skagit heads. The transfer of energy from a thick Skagit head directly to a Poly leader is too great for the limp Poly leader. Your best bet would be to connect a floating tip to the Skagit head, then attach a poly leader or mono leader. This will give your more taper and better energy transfer. What is your objective?.....what size flies do you want to throw? are you looking for a floating tip for Skagit?, are you looking for a lighter sink tip? Are you looking to throw big flies but on a lighter floater? There are better ways to skin a cat....
