First one this year...
Fished the Mult. Channel Sunday morning and caught a 25lbs. springer. Also had to other hits that I missed.... Saw a couple of others caught during the day. I was using blue plug cut herring. This early in February was certainly a bonus!

Re: First one this year...
Yeah, yours might taste better but I'll bet mine was a bigger surprise!!! Almost as big a surprise as getting schooled by Bubba.
Guess I'll have to go fish Southern Oregon so I can catch a bunch of fish. Heck, even Dorian caught fish drift fishing which hasn't happened since the first Bush was in office.
By the way, I did get some photos. I'll post when I get the film developed.

Nice job finner! Do you mind if I ask where in the channel ( upper or lower). Anybody out there. which tide do you think is the best fishing in the M. channel ie: in-coming,outgoing, hi slack? Thanks & good fishing to you.

Re: First one this year...
Fishing Freak,
I was in the lower channel. I prefer the lower this time of year and then April I concentrate on the Rocky Pointe area. I caught my fish at 1:00, but saw a few fish caught throughout the day. I'm not sure what the tide was doing at 1:00 Sunday. I believe in good bait and just spending your time out there. I'll put my herring in a jar with rock salt and water from where I'm fishing to help keep the scales on. I'm also a believer in plug cut. If you see a maroon Willie drift boat out there say "hello"..

Re: First one this year...
Yeah, I don't think anybody on this board knows that the channel has springers that run up it. Better not tell 'em about the walleye!!!

There are never any fish in the channel. They will all be in Oregon City. So, everyone fish up there, K?

Re: First one this year...
Thanks finner! I also like to run cut-plug. I generally fish the upper M. channel for springers. Where do you like to drop your boat in at the lower channel? I will definately be out there
saturday. Will keep my eye's out for you. I have a red and tan alumaweld DB.

Re: First one this year...
I'm giving out an awful lot of info out
I've been using the Gilbert River launch. Used to fish out of Bayport (not sure if that's the name anymore) a lot. Used to do pretty good on those flats just as you get into the channel.
