Default Siwash hook?

When using siwash hooks on spinners is it important to bend the hook off center? Someone told me I should and was not sure if it matters or not.

Thanks Robert

i've seen several different books on spinners and spoons and they've all said that you'll increase your solid hookups if you bend the shank of the hook sideways, offsetting the point. personally, i don't do it. no reason why, i just don't. frankly, having tossed spinners and spoons off and on for the last two years, i've had one bite (which i missed). i need to spend more time on my technique i guess.

With many thanks to my clients I lose at least 100 spinners a year...catch a whole lot of fish, don't miss very many and have never bent the hook. Now I know what I 've been doin wrong!

from what i have found, if you turn them off center and that fish gives you a good chomp it's embedded so far up their jaw that a plastic surgeon would be need to fix it cosmetically. not to mention you landing your fish. natives really don't like it or appreciate smacking one of the siwash's either. pinch it down if you fish late in the season for steelhead. three hook ups a few year back, three 18+lb chinook on a size three pen-tac spinner.
