Default Yamaha T8 Lemon!

First "metal shavings" in the low idle injector, now heard a crack when the electric tilt bottomed out this weekend. Became hard to steer. Cut trip short and inspected closely at home. A large CRACK right through the right tilt axle bracket. I'm not sure this electric tilt thing is good for bracket mounts or if Yamaha is good for me. Will discuss warranty replacement vs trade for Honda 9.9 tomorrow morning, 8:30 AM Pacific Boatland, Vancouver, WA. Let yall know how it goes. Everybody with a T8 go check those brackets!

Doc, hope you get this covered under the warrenty. Sounds like the file should not have caused it. They may try to say you hit something with it but if it was mounted nothing could tough it.
March 5th Tuesday will be a better day.

Further details - my buddy told me later this evening after I told him I found a crack; he said he heard a pop when we hit a wake at about 30mph. About tweny minutes later we stopped to fish and when I tilted the motor down with the trim switch, at the normal trim stop where you hear a clunk, I heard a loud crack. The tiller would rotate but it was "crunchy" instead of smooth steering. Cracked right through the motor mount on the tilt axle. Bad metal. Kinda like those Abu Garcia thumb-bars from the Thanksgiving GI Joe sale. Crap. Trim settings are per the installation by Pacific Boatland. Tilts about 15 degrees in past the vertical towards transom in full down position. Could this have contributed?
