Where do you store your net??
I've got a 21' NR jet but no rocket launchers to store the net. It usually is placed between the co-pilot chair & the gunnel where it gets hung up on the seat adjustment.
Has anyone rigged a modification to the boat to store the net while under way?
While on anchor with several people in the boat, it sometimes goes on the roof but have almost lost it a few times.
If I'm going to drop a C note on one of these fancy Beckman's, i need to figure a way not to loose it!
Thanks

Re: Where do you store your net??
I store it like you do. But it never gets hung up Its bad luck if you touch the net before you catch a fish. Dont touch the net (thats not the midle finger)
And Yes I have lost a net from falling off the top .....Ross

Re: Where do you store your net??
I have read on other posts and finally tried it tonight: turn one of the spare rodholders straight up-n-down, and put the net handle in there. Worked great on my little open boat. The net was out of my way but accessible and stored with the handle extended for quick solo operation. Now I just need a fish!

Re: Where do you store your net??
Yeah, nets on the top aren't a great idea! Once in a hog line, two guys in a boat tried to make "their own hog line" about 30 yards above the main hog line Clearly these guys didn't know what they were doing, and hadn't taken the time to ride with somebody who did. After hooking two peoles anchor, and pulling them upstream, presumably to try and clear a spot of themselves? They exchanged fingers, and shouts and decided to move a hundred yards up river or something. Now the point of this story, sometime after they re-anchored, their net fell off of the top. It floated through the hogline, and as we looked young and restless, the rest of the boats encouraged us to chase it down. So we did. By the time they noticed it was missing, they looked around for it. We held it up to show them we had it, and by this time there was a ample room next to them to come fetch it, but I think they were too embarassed to do so! Karma. Beefcake, storing the net in the pole holders is something I've considered, but the verticle opsticle scares me. So, we pull the cup holder liner out from the front of the boat, and insert net into the vacated hole next to the seat! Works for us.

Re: Where do you store your net??
I have seen a cool way to hold the net. I saw a boat last summer that had a pocket sewn into the underside of the top. It was made for the hoop of the net to slide in and the handle would point out toward the stern. Neat, clean and out of the way, but you can still reach it when your fishing. Kinda like a net holster.

Re: Where do you store your net??
I have a NR Mariner & had the same problem with the net. Now I have bought a motion marine pole holder that I clamp to the tray. I place a rod holder at the gunnel. The net is held in two places & can be stored at the ready.

Re: Where do you store your net??
I finally gave up trying to rig up something to store the net in , ( after loosing a couple of nets over the years from laying them on top of the canvas), and installed a barewest ski/fish tower with rocket lauchers accross the top and on the side. I can keep the net on the side, and spare poles accoss the top.

Re: Where do you store your net??
Choose where you want the net to be and mount 1 and 1/2 feet of proper diameter PVC pipe. Cost for a 10 ft length of PVC pipe? About $2.50

gr8waves beat me to it....thats what I did....Put it where the drop curtain meets the side. Net is out of the way and handy, when I remember to bring it

Re: Where do you store your net??
A friend has an inboard NR. Uses a gun rack with four suction cups that he attached to the outside of the port side window. Net rides in the boat, but when it's time to fish, extend the handle, hook the net over the gun rack and the handle extends to the back. Has not come off once, and is always at the ready.

Re: Where do you store your net??
While under way I keep mine inside next to the seat. At anchor I put it on the top. Had a couple close calls when I forgot it was up there and took off. Now anytime it's on the top I drape the bag over the windshield in front of operators seat. This has worked fairly well so far.

Re: Where do you store your net??
Here is my solution. I welded a mounting plate to 1 1/4" S.S. pipe. Mounted one on each side and when the net comes out, the other poles go in to be out of the way while fighting and netting fish. Of course this is only theory, as have yet to catch that first springer this year.
