Default Trolling motor for Inflatable Pontoon

Hello all...
I am in the market for a trolling motor. this will be used mostly in fresh water and will be mounted to my 10.5' Skykomish Sunrise pontoon.

for all you fellow tooners out there...
what motor do you use, would you purchase a different model today
do you think the freshwater engine can handle brackish water like the Nestucca bay?

I am leaning towards a 40# thrust minn kota or motor guide.
do you guys find the digital maximizer works well?
worth the upgrade from the base model?
thanks in advanced for any advice

I think you should be fine with a 30-40 lbs motor. I have a 30 on my old toon and it pushed it just fine. I have a 46 sitting in the garage for my new toon, but never had the chance to try it yet. I would get a cheaper motor and save your money for more lures.

Just a reminder, once you mount a motor on your pontoon you'll need to liscense it and carry all the safety equipment.

Understood...
you need to carry the same safety equipment with or without a motor.
even on a stand up paddle board you need a vest, whistle etc.
the only extra thing you need with a motor is to register the craft, unless its over a certain HP and then you need a boater education card

I also need to find a way to display the numbers without painting the toons... thinking of hanging a small sign (similar to an A frame sandwich board sign, just a lot smaller)
