Default March Browns?

Are the March Browns hatching yet? Deschutes? McKenzie?

Thanks in advance!

Headed to the McKenzie tomorrow for the weekend. Will give a report upon return. Staying in Vida but going Deerhorn/Armitage down.

They were hatching on a N coast river yesterday. Didn't even know they lived there.

I've seen them on the Clack and on the Hood over the past couple weeks. I think they may be March Browns this year not just in name.

Kinda slow on the Mac, but they should be popping on the coast. Of course, you can't fish them most places until May...

I also witnessed an impressive hatch on a North Coast small stream yesterday. It was quite impressive and I had no clue they made a home there!

Spent 3 days on the McKenzie with Meskel in the drifter. We did 3 different stretches of the river with the best being Bellinger to Armitage. There were HUGE hatches of black caddis but no March Browns. The frustrating part was seeing (big) fish taking bugs but wanting nothing to do with anything we had in our boxes (nymph, emergers, or drys). We managed 4 fish in 3 days on the water . Not really what I had in mind, but they were nice floats.

We need some more rain to produce these bugs in numbers.

Thanks for the post. I was on the McKenzie last Saturday and the bugs were hatching like crazy and I had never seen such a big hatch before in person. However, I caught one fish the whole float from Hayden to Armitage and began to think that I was a terrible fly fisherman. Your post made me feel better knowing that I was not the only one who struggled with all those bugs around.

There were a few out last weekend on the deschutes, but I didn't see any fish rising. Nymphs fished deep were the ticket.
