Yamaha T8 tiller conversion??

So here is my problem...I purchased a used boat a couple of years and the yamaha t8 has controls and is tie to the main motor. This is a great set up about 90% of the time as long as it is not really windy or I am not fishing by myself. However, I really wish I was not married to the steering wheel while trolling. Is there any way to convert a T8 with controls to a tiller handle? Let me know if anyone has any recommendations or if I am stuck.

I think I was told by a dealer it's one way or the other no conversion. Could be wrong.
