Post Float foam in boats.

The past month I have been working on my boat. Removing the foam only to find corrosion. I have came to the conclusion that filling the bottom of the boat with foam is a bad idea. My boat is 10 years old used in the salt every year and washed out every time. The foam I removed was wet and filled with water. I've had most of the corrosion ground filled and welded. Sprayed the inside with etch primer and Zero rust. You could say I'm not very happy with the fact that when you got water in the boat it wouldn't drain as well as it should. Now I have a friend doing the same to his boat and finding the same issues with corrosion. When I talked different boat builders they say this seems to be a common problem. The interesting theme to all this was the boat that they seemed to see most often was the same brand as mine. I will not have another boat under 20 feet. In closing If you are looking at used boats under that have float foam you better really look at them.

Any inboard with Flotation will probably float with just the nose above water. When I had to remove some foam for a repair, could not believe how hard it was to remove. Saw a chainsaw blade thing for an angle grinder for carving wood. Wonder how that would work for removing foam.

is similar, but the one I was had a double row of blades.
