Default Leak?

My dad has a 13 foot lake boat that has never seen a trailer which over 40 years of use it has some leaks up front. I was wondering if we sprayed that Armor stuff on the inside of the boat it would be a cure all? It is an aluminum boat.

We have used some glue stuff that works until about 4 trips into the year and its back to bailing again.

Thanks in advance

Reminds me of an old beater 12 foot aluminum cartopper my buddy and I had in high school. It leaked like a sieve. We had no money, so we plugged the leaks with bubble gum. We always chewed gum on that boat. Not an elegant solution, but it worked and was worth a lot of laughs. Sugarless Bubble Yum was the best brand.

Once we turned the boat upside down and got under it, thus revealing all the leaks as pinholes of light. We tried to epoxy the holes, but the epoxy didn't work very well, so it was back to the gum.

There is a way to repair aluminum with brazing rods designed for that ...

So does anybody think that the armor liner they apply to truck bed liners could be the cure for a leaky boat. I did like the propane aluminum deal, but I have an opportunity to get this done cheap by a guy who claims it should work great.

Any one know or had experience with the black armor liner stuff?

What i would worry about with the Rhino liner would be the weight. I am not sure how much it would weigh, but if your boat only has a small capacity (ie 400 pounds) it may do more harm then good.

If I were going to do the Rhino liner thing I would do something to try to patch the major leaks before (epoxy or some kind of material like metal putty). That way the lining would be icing ok the cake.

Good Luck either way.
