Question How to nail down the "pin" in my kicker????

Ok, I have a 1995 9.9 Yamaha kicker on my boat. Twice now, the "pin" has come out on the motor/starter pulley (meaning when I pull on the rip cord, there is no resistance). This is the pin on the starter pully (see attached pictures; in these pictures everything is back in place).

If I knew how to use photshop to circle the offending items on the pictures, I would. But this is the pin (easily seen on the last photo), that has popped out twice.

It appears that the vertical bolt and nut above the pin hold it in place: if so, what is the sequence for getting it tightened in place???? I can't tighten the bolt without having the starter pulley turn in place (which is what I don't want). Ideas????

I looked at the schematic on the starter and the pin is recessed in the middle ...
I believe you can hold the bolt with one wrench while loosening the nut that acts as a lock for the assembly ...
Then turn the bolt down until it contacts the recess in the pin , hold the bolt in place while you tighten the nut down to hold the bolt snug against the pin ...
If just one side of the pin is creeping out it is probably broken in the middle ...
heres a link for you

Thanks for the link!!! Good info there.

Pin is not broken-- I have just slid it back into place.

I have tried the suggestion above-- but the starter pully turns when I turn on the bolt. How do I keep that from turning? Do I jam a 2x4 in there into the teeth of the starter pulley?

Screwdriver, pry bar, or band wrench or clamp.

You may do this already but would suggest when you do pull the ripcord that you go easy until the pin engages then let 'er rip.
