Default throw rope and lineing rope

Any of you boaters carry a throw rope? What kind, how long and where did you get it? I see one listed at rei.coop for 29.95 and it is 50ft. It is made by Stollquist. While i'm asking how about a lineing rope in case i need to line my boat down some water that i'm not sure about drifting? What diamater and how long should it be? Strength is a factor too i hear so what pound breakage am I looking for? Help Mr. wizzards!

Cully,

Not sure if you are talking about recue throw rope. I was just looking into a rescue throw rope/bag. I was looking at the throw bag since it looked easier to accurately throw than just the rope by itself and it's pack able and contained. What I have found is you want at least 3/8 floating rope with a length between 75' & 125'. The Rescue throw-bag w/75ft rope was $39.99.

Another great one is the Lifesling, which has floatation collar/storage bag and line for $79.99

Cully:

I have a life ring on the transom with a 75'throw line in a nylon bag. Fortunately, I've never needed to use it. I put it on a life ring because they are heavier and can be thrown farther.

Regards,

Mark
